Queer media matters because art and media can raise or lower our interpersonal sensitivity. We build our sense of self by seeing people we can relate to, and build empathy by seeing those we don’t understand at first. Our modern media environment keeps us voting with dollars and attention, but lately there’s an air of isolation, overwhelm, and “just trying to keep up”.
Still, I keep finding creatives that fully respect audiences and the value of each other’s labour. Teams built on mutual support and a desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves, with livable wages and fair organization.
I’m currently editing two documentaries, producing a short film, and making Bit Button videos when I have time. I live in Vancouver with my dog, June 🙂
